Music within television productions

We provide some examples of music in television productions of the Austrian National Broadcasting Corporation (ORF).

Example 1 - Alpen Donau Adria (documentary)
Hard to tell whether music is present or not. At first it seems to be some noise and then probably music starts playing.
Example 2 - Alpen Donau Adria (documentary)

Examples of wrong classification

The Continuous Frequency Activation Feature fails in some situations. Especially when the continuous frequency activations are a consequence of continuous noise signal. We provide some examples to illustrate incorrectly classified segments.

Example 1 - Alpen Donau Adria (documentary)
NO_MUSIC to MUSIC: The CFA feature classifies the helicopter noise as music.
Example 2 - Barbara Karlich Show (talk show)
MUSIC to NO_MUSIC: Percussive music and applause, hard to detect. A rhythmic feature could successfully detect this excerpt.
Example 3 - Da wo es noch Treue gibt (soap opera)
NO_MUSIC to MUSIC: The noise of a motorbike is detected by the CFA feature.
Example 4 - Da wo es noch Treue gibt (soap opera)
NO_MUSIC to MUSIC: There are bells ringing, but no music is present.
Example 5 - Frisch gekocht (cooking show)
NO_MUSIC to MUSIC: The roasting of potatoes confuses the CFA feature.
Example 6 - Heilige Orte (documentary)
NO_MUSIC to MUSIC: The bells and birds in the background produce tonelike signals.
Example 7 - Heilige Orte (documentary)
NO_MUSIC to MUSIC: Once more a noise signal leads to a misclassification.

MUSIC to NO_MUSIC: The CFA feature cannot detect percussive music present in the background of this audio example.
Example 9 - Heimat fremde Heimat (documentary)
MUSIC to NO_MUSIC: Another example of a misclassification because of the percussive style of the music excerpt.
Example 10 - Hohes Haus (parliament show)
NO_MUSIC to MUSIC: A noise signal leads to a misclassification.
Example 11 - Julia (soap opera)
MUSIC to NO_MUSIC: The piano background music is not detected. Because of the crying baby?
